Mysore is a heritage city of Karnataka and I had a day to visit it one summer. Among all the famous tourist places, Mysore Palace is the most prominent destination to visit there. Here’s a little about the Palace I gathered.
The history of this three-story palace leads us to its official residents of the Wadiyar dynasty who ruled the Kingdom of Mysore from 1399 to 1950. Originally constructed in the 14th century, the palace was reconstructed several times. This sprawling building is a replacement of the old wooden building destroyed by fire in the late 19th century.
The palace is a beautiful display of the royal lifestyle showcasing columned Durbar Hall, the solid silver doors, the mahogany ceilings, and many other embellishments. The most important attraction is the renowned Mysore Dasara festival is celebrated in the palace every year during autumn. The palace remains illuminated during 10 days of the festival with around 100,000 light bulbs from 7 pm to 10 pm. During the festival, the Chinnada Simhasana or Ratna Simahasana that is the royal throne decorated with fascinating designs on its gold plates is displayed.
That’s all for now, make sure you add Mysore in your travel list and tag me in your pictures on Instagram when you visit it!
